Tyler Black and Logan Anderson of Bandys High School won the 2015 North Carolina State High School Fishing Championships on Sunday at Lake Norman, bringing the championship trophy to Catawba County for the second-straight year.

Black and Kristopher Queen won the state championship last year and won the national championship in late April. With Queen graduated, Black fished this year with a new partner in Anderson. Their five-fish limit weighing 13 pounds, 15 ounces, was more than 1 ½ pounds better than the second-place team.

Black and Anderson qualified to compete in the Southeastern Conference championships on Georgia’s Lake Lanier in September, along with the second- and third-place teams.

Connor Usher and Corey Lassiter of East Gaston High School took second with a limit that weighed 12 pounds, 8 ounces. Noah Howard and Brady Trueheart of South Granville High School took third with a limit that weighed 10 pounds, 10 ounces.

Rounding out the top five were Joshua Benge and Cameron Keller of North Lincoln High School with 10 pounds, 1 ounces, and Tyler Dunn and Matthew Shrewsbury of the N.C. Student Angler Federation with 9-12.
