I have been hunting eastern season and central season for about 5 years, and the deer rut at different times in each zone. I know three years ago in the central zone it was thanksgiving before I saw any bucks rutting. I grew up hunting in the Adirondacks and the deer rut hard for 2 weeks and its over, and down here its seems to last longer and not be as hard.
I'm in the southeast part of the state and I've seen scrapes and rubs already and larger bucks pushing out smaller ones. I have always said that the rut down here is in the latter part off October til the second week of November. Some friends say it's the first week of December but I disagree.
