Deer Hunting in Southeast North Carolina

Rut in NC

This is my first year of hunting around Goldsboro hard. Does anyone have any info on the rut around these parts. I hunt in SC religously and they are starting pre-rut. Necks swollen, stink, and chasing smaller bucks off. I can usually tell with the weather and things, but don't know too much around here. Anyone got any info? Thanks

I'm in the southeast part of the state and I've seen scrapes and rubs already and larger bucks pushing out smaller ones. I have always said that the rut down here is in the latter part off October til the second week of November. Some friends say it's the first week of December but I disagree.

I have been hunting eastern season and central season for about 5 years, and the deer rut at different times in each zone. I know three years ago in the central zone it was thanksgiving before I saw any bucks rutting. I grew up hunting in the Adirondacks and the deer rut hard for 2 weeks and its over, and down here its seems to last longer and not be as hard.
