Neuse River reds, specks and rock

It's been a great spring of fishing on the Neuse River. The top water rock bite has been excellent with fish pushing the 30 + inch range. Much of the action is closer to New Bern with NE winds producing the best of the bite. Specks are everywhere and although there are a lot of small fish, we seeing enough keepers to take home dinner. More and more keeper sized fish have coming to the boat and the fish are from New Bern to the mouth of the river. Puppy and over the slot drum fishing has picked up. We are not see huge numbers but several fish a day if you put in the time. We also had fish to 30 inches as of late and have caught fish out of Oriental and New Bern. Look for plenty of great action through the rest of May, June and into July.
