bladen county giant 199's +

posted pic under another post not sure if everyone seen it so thought i would post again. buck was killed 2012 in bladen county, my taxidermist caped him out and is mounting him. he told me deer rough scored 199+ and he has mounted alotta big deer! he said fellow that shot him has the antlers for the 60 day drying period and then will have them officially scored. don't blame him i'd keep them under lock and key..lol the pic i got from a friend who knows the guy that killed him. taxidermist told me he was a main frame 12 and he didn't know how b&c would score him but he would make b&c. beams are massive.guess we'll see how he tapes out after the 60 day period. giant no matter what to me.

buck

lol... 199 alotta antler i agree. but that's what my taxidermist told me.he's mounted over 200' deer.this is only pic my friend had.i'm thinking the guy is trying to keep hush hush til he gets him scored by b&c that's jus my thinking. some people don't like to advertise the bigguns..lol he told me that the guy after shooting the deer nofified landowner and wildlife officer to verify it. when i go back to the taxidermist i'll try and find out more. if he scores anywhere close to 190 typical that would be #1 in nc, the #1 now is low 180's can't remember exactly but it's on the dixie deer classic website.

Your correct Joco, When I said number 4 in the State I still Had the recently posted Rockingham Buck on my mind which would be a Non-Typical but yeah...199 would shatter the state record typical of 181 7/8

Brute!!

Looks like he will go high 180's to low/mid 190's. Heck of a deer to come out of NC. Atleast he has a nice gene pool in the area now.

Nice Buck

Super Nice Buck.

There was a buck killed in Bladen County this year I heard of and haven't seen pictures of and I hope this isn't the same one. But the one buck, I heard talk of, was huge and was a transplanted deer in high fence for breeding. The buck apparently escaped and got shot. The story was that Fish and Game measured the buck but ruled it ineligible for the NC record books.

Like I said....I hope this isn't that buck because it would be nice to know those genes are walking in my back yard county!

good chance same buck

if i was a betting man , i'd bet it's the same deer.this 1 was shot in bladen i do know because the taxidermist i know caped him and is gonna mount him. i agree 100% it would be a shame that it was a penned deer that escaped and not a native 1.i know i would be sick if i shot 1 like this and found out he had got outta a pen.i bet whoever owned him is really sick ! but you're right if he was a captive/ breeder buck he will not be accepted by b&c. makes me wonder sometimes when i see some of the giants that are shot just where they did come from. i'm sure there are some outta state giants shot and claimed to come from nc...lol i heard a story of several yrs ago a fellow carried a biggun to the deer classic and they were suspicious and come to find out it was replica antlers ..lol ya never know ???

bladen buck

Ive got some family and friends in Bladen County. A picture of this deer was sent to me by my cousin before it was up on NCHUNTANDFISH. What I was told (may or may not be true), was that the deer was killed on a big money hunting club. The club on which it was killed borders a club owned and payed for by Wendell Murphy...so I can only imagine how many food plots and millions of pounds of high nutrition feed are being made available to those deer. If this story is true, I think it is highly unlikely that the deer was in a fence, due to the fact that word travels quick in Bladen and of all the things Ive heard about the Murphy farm, a high fence is not one of them. I also know one of the guys that checks the trail cameras out there and even seen some of the pics a few years back...he's never mentioned a fence, and he's the type that would if there was one. However, with the money that they have, nothing would really surprise me.

Bladen buck

I hunt bladen county and have for a few years. From what I understand it is from a hunting club area that a lot f people call the gold club. Do not believe it is a high fence deer, but understand that they brought in out of state genetics a few years ago and that is why u have not heard a lot about the deer they kill. There was a 165 inch deer killed there two years ago. They do not advertise there deer.

You serious?

WOW, Club or No Club A Deer of this magnitude deserves some attention if it's a legitimate Kill...199+ and the legal hunter doesn't want to be recognized for his accomplishment because of a special Club??? I mean a potential State Wide record!!! Really???

Some more pics.....

Here are some more pics of this giant. Supposedly killed on some land owned by the Murphy's here in Duplin that have a biggest hog business. This guy was either a close friend or part of the family....I am not sure....All I know is they have a ton of land there in Bladen that very few have access too and there are year round management practices.....One giant buck for NC to say the least....

nice pics

glad you shared pics shows more more of the rack than one i posted. he's definitely a giant deer, but not sure now after seeing pics if he'll go 190+. i'd guess mid 170's low 180's gross. if he goes typical score he'll have heavy deductions, but who cares i think if they grow it that it should count.he does have some nice mass going for him all the way out.looks maybe 17-18 ' inside spread.anyway ya look at it he's a nice deer anyone would be proud to take. i hope to see him mounted before the lucky fellow carries him home.

Buck

I agree joco...after seeing these Pictures, There is No Way this Buck is close to 199 inches!! I would be shocked if it was a 170..Mass or No mass and why don't people tuck the tongue back in for heavens sake??? Only takes a second lol...the deer is dead, there is no need to show everyone that it died choking on it's own blood or gasping for air!!

Bucks Score

Guys you are missing what was said....They said rough scored. Not the net score. A rough score does not deduct and they add the inside spread. This buck will be up there without question way over 170'....However if they were to have it officially scored taking off the major deductions and the inside spread then it would drop the score significantly......He might as well be a 300' deer if I would have killed him lol......

Score

Even a rough Score DCB, Do you see 199? I mean yes, he has mass but what is he 14/15 inside and his main beams are short...They just seem to go upward as you can tell in the original Pic but he's a great Buck and yes he will have heavy deductions...He Don't look anymore impressive to me than Vipers buck did and what was his total? 114? 126? something like that?...Still a nice deer but even a rough score, I still don't even see 170 but I've been wrong before..this buck my buddy took scored 175 7/8 as a typical 12 point after deductions and he went with the NT score of 223 5/8 for the record Book. Big Difference!!!

Score

GT I don't think he is 199 for sure....I definitely think with the mass he would rough score 170+.....My Illinois buck grossed 167' and I know this is bigger.....I think the mass is where the score is at though.....Viper's deer was a great deer to me and I would tickled pink to kill something like it but it is nowhere near this one imo......Either way it doesn't really matter....IT's a freaking giant that was homegrown here in NC...Amazing what deer can become when everything is right....

closer look

i took the time to look closer at last 2 pics and i'm gonna say he'll gross in the 160's give or take . pic i posted of side view it's hard to tell just how big he is. let me say i still think he's a hoss.but i've seen alotta deer that i don't know where the score comes from good & bad..lol. i know pics can decieve your judgment. all in all great buck . for example i carried my largest to deer classic, dropped him upside down and broke 1 1/2 off his g-4 in my drive way loading him.lol he scored 158 and some change,i didn't think it was right cuz my measurement was higher, carried him back in 2006 and dave boland scored him and he's an official b&c scorer, he scored him at 165 4/8. makes me wonder how many have been scored at the classic and are not correct. guess it's who scores them..lol

Bladen Co. Buck

Gentlemen, I would like to set the record straight. I am indeed the guy that shot the 190 inch deer from Bladen County (aka the Bladen Co. Monster). First of all, I would like to say thank you for all of the positive comments I have received. I have been very fortunate to harvest several deer between 150-180 inches. In other words this isnt my first rodeo. The deer was harvested on private land in Bladen Co. He was not pen raised or a breeder buck as has been suggested. He was not shot on any of the Murphy property. It truely is disappointing that a hunter cannot harvest a nice deer without being bombarded with negative comments or accusations such as the ones I have read at this forum and others. In other words, I am choosing to remember this experience for what it was...the hunt of a lifetime. And by the way, 190 is the gross score.
