On October 6th I went and checked my trail cams to see what stand I wanted to hunt the following morning. I was quite surprised when I saw pictures of a buck that I haven’t seen since the second week of bow season. He was the biggest deer I had on Camera. So naturally I was anxious to hunt the next morning. But there was one problem, I didn’t have a stand set up in that particular spot. It was a wide open field and really no good spot to put a stand for the per dominant wind in this area. So the morning came and I decided to just sit on the ground in a brushy area on the side of the field down wind from were the buck was coming out, leaving me with about 175 yard shot with my T/C .50. Sure enough around 7:45am he steps out just where I thaught he would. I knew it was a long shot with my muzzle loader but I felt confident, so I aimed a little high and squeezed the trigger. The buck dropped in his tracks. It took me a moment get it together because it happened so fast. After giving the buck a few minutes I jumped up to finally put my hands on him. He was big main frame 8 with 3 kickers on his bases.
