i feel ya on your missing the big buck, i had 8 pt pushing 160's last yr at 40 yds and missed him standing still with my rifle. talk about sick !!!but that's hunting, keeps us going back. good luck on the 1 you're after and keep us posted.
thanks.... all these bucks were taken in the same area. missed several yrs of hunting due to work, but trying to make up now!!!. i've seen some good bucks over the yrs i didn't shoot, some because of after season went out and others while not hunting.i've let some nice ones walk over past few yrs hoping they will make it to become big bucks. but unfortunately some don't make it and some just will never be big bucks. theres one thing for sure i've learnt, if you kill the little bucks you'll know for sure what they are dead!!!. one thing i've done last couple yrs changed my hunting style, i mainly hunt fields staying outta the woods much as possible. it has made a differnce. here anyways. some of our farm hasn't even been hunted in several yrs due to this.
looked at video couldn't see to clear, but he does look tall like mine. kinda looked similar from what i can see. maybe he'll come back by camera. just bought me a cam before christmas still learning with it. it's the 1st i've ever had. always kinda wanted it to be a surprise what's around but heck at least now maybe i'll get a pic of some that i'll never see while hunting.have yet to try video mode. so far though it has worked flawlessly. i bought a stealth cam and carried it back the next day , the lense came loose. got a wildgame innovations mini cam . so far so good.
Cool Cameras are addictive lol almost as much fun as hunting..I was hoping to see this Buck before season went out and spent every chance I had on this field..His 20 inch wide 6 point buddy showed up 1 evening and I didn't shoot and then I was gonna take 1 of the plump Does I normally see and next thing I know, It was over lol...Hope he hangs around the area until next year but ya never know.
dang, 6 pt 20's wide.... whew i'd have to have shot him if he had good tines and some mass lol. i passed on a 6pt last yr like that but he had short g2's and not much mass but had brows around 6-7 's ain't seen him since...lol got so many raccons around here man they sit and pose for my camera hrs at the time...lol then there's the coyotes and bobcats, they want there time on camera to...lol
i do agree with gt on posting comments. there are nice deer taken all over nc. i don't begrudge anyone killing 1 long as it is legal. big buck lil buck whatever trips your trigger. to kill a big buck gotta be a big buck there. luck has a lot to do with it no matter who you are. right place right time. if there's big bucks where you hunt then your luck is gonna be better than where there are none.if the biggun dosen't decide to walk in daylight you ain't gonna see him anyway. i've spent many hrs sitting for mine. so sit and wait and maybe everyone that puts in the time will be succesful to! but isn't just being able to hunt and enjoy the outdoors a reward itself ?
N. Durham Co. - dog runnin' was outlawed here a few years ago and we are starting to see some nice bucks over the last couple years. My son & I had a surreal season this year - we had a hard time getting on many deer this year but we seemed to be in the right place at the right time for the bucks though.
Justin You and Huntman Did have a dream Season so to speak...I know your proud of him and you should be!!! You should know that times like you guys share together now are times and memories that he will cherish forever!!! I sure remember the Outings with my Paw-Paw alot better than some hunts from recent Years..Your doing a great Job and Joco...Your correct that being there is 95% of being successful and having Nice Bucks in the area definitely makes me wanna stay that extra hour lol...My friend was hunting a big Buck that had him patterned...he would leave the stand at 10 and at 10:15 the Buck would show up...he finally killed him...How? he went in at 9:30 to sit till noon and killed the Buck at 11:10
I've hunted several times get tired of sitting . Come home and just have that gut feeling to go back and sure enough kill a buck. Sometimes jus gotta go with your gut feelings... Lol big bucks to me are and act different than other deer. i like it when the big buck uses a smaller buck for his decoy. that's amazing to me. dang can't wait for season to come back in !!!!
LOL You sound like me...I dropped a Trophy Rock today. Can't remember if you said if you Turkey Hunted or not?. man, that's what I'm waiting on!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love some deer hunting...well really anything outdoors but Turkey Hunting is my Passion. The 4 Hens I seen yesterday had been back in the area where we caught another Coon last night because, The Ground had fresh scratching everywhere..Hopefully taking some Coons and Possums out will save a few Turkey Eggs in this area...Also all last summer I had 3 Bucks on Film and didn't take a deer at all from this area this year...Maybe they will show back up.
i hear gt,i borrowed trail cam several yrs ago from my uncle got some nice bucks all summer, hunting season came never saw any of them...lol largest one got killed about a mile away.i bought me a cam before christmas so far so good it's fun messing with to. i've never used any of the deer attractants they sell.we have alotta good farm land here and i put out some corn during hunting season but there's times they walk right by it.. lol. unpicked soybeans are the ticket early and late if they haven't been picked. i mostly hunt where i've seen deer for yr after yr. as for turkey hunting never been sounds fun, seen 1 st turkey about 2 miles from here last friday. musta been a stray.lol we have so many coyotes, bobcats, coons, foxes not sure if they'll ever make it here or not.i figure the smalls ones would be very vulnerable to those predators. time will tell i guess.
WOW!! I love that profile he has!!! Reminds me of the WV buck I posted that you commented on..Just a Titanic Frame!!! I have spent most of my life in the timber and you would think that I could encounter such a Buck lol...I did have a chance at a Giant in WV in 97 but I missed :(...That happens though...Congrats on your Trophies!!!
