my season been fair as far as taking 2 bucks. since november not good at all. COYOTES galore.. lol guess only coulda been bad thing was 2 nd buck i shot after 1st shot he fell. looked at him a minute or so laying there and started towards him and he stood up and starting trying to run on front 2 legs.i shot 2 more times missed ( crosshairs shake alot shooting offhand) lol, had 1 bullet left tried and steady myself and pulled the trigger and got the left shoulder so he went down. so all in all a good season just thank the lord to be able to hunt and have the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.
My son Tanner and I had a memorable season in which he killed his first buck, and missed his first deer,a buck. This miss was actually good for him for he was beginning to get cocky for a 8 yr old hunter, and let him know each shot we take is not guaranteed. Also he was sitting with me when I shot my first bear on Dec. 14.
Santa brought him a new 7mm-08 and we will be trying to extend the memories until Jan. 1. Can't wait until the next time out with him...
2012 was a tough year for me. with fewer deer sightings then previous seasons. but we did'nt give up. We being my father and my 10 and 8 year old sons. spending time with your family is special and shouldnt be taken for granted. My most favorite hunt this year was when my 8 year old son took his first deer a 4 point although the deer was small it was still a trophy in our eyes. another great time was helping my dad track one he had shot and finally recovered it. My season is now over I will be out of town the few remaining days. Good luck to everyone else its not over yet.
You can go hunting solo and harvest some nice trophies but I think that hunting is even better when shared with family and friends that are like family.
I don't want to be all redundant for anyone who has read our previous posts so in short I'll say that my most favorite moments were seeing my son harvest two pretty nice bucks this season.
Good luck to all in these last few days.

My season started like a few people here with a lot of expectation and even more disappointment.
Bow season started with last years arrows and broadheads and two lost pass through doe. Inferno4me (site member and bow-smith), got me hooked up with the new Gold Tip Velocity arrows and talked me into the Rage 2 blade chisel tip broad head and the carnage started. 3 doe with the bow and one surprise buck with no antlers (broke off on both sides to the skull cap). Seasons not over and I'll be bow in hand tomorrow.
Gun season started with a back up scope not dialed in and a backstrap shot on the first deer at 80 yards. I got the scope dialed in for the next hunts to come and never took a shot under 180 yards the rest of the season to date. The pinnacle of gun season with out a doubt was doubling up on two doe, both at 376 yards.
A few days left and freezer full. A memory of a 130+ class buck walking 80 yards through the trees from me during bow season still haunts my mind. The smile on a young mans face, home for Thanksgiving from college I was able to put on a deer when he had only one day to hunt, and a family I donated 2 deer two have food. These things bring my season full circle. Thank God for Mother Earth and the Soldiers for our freedom.

1st crossbow kill
I missed a doe with a crossbow in early bow season from a ground blind. She couldn't help herself. She just had to circle back to check out where that noise came from. I had already reloaded just in case and was waiting when she popped back out at 15 yards. A double-lung and she ran 40 yards. Weighed about 110 lbs. and was mid shed of her summer coat. I was extatic and pumped! Thanked the Lord for a second chance and again when he blessed the tenderloin biscuits and yet again when he blessed the deer sausage, burger, cube steak, stew meat, jerky, etc.
Well I had probably the worst archery season I've had since I started 9 years ago. Through all the mishaps I was still blessed with some great hunts. I still managed to knock 3 down...My worst moment was when I knocked my bow out of the tree only to clear the field including the first shooter buck I saw this season...I was so disgusted with myself. The highlight of the season was taking my 4 year old son hunting for the very first time. We only saw one deer but to have him in the stand with me is something I will never forget....It was awesome....Hopefully next year I can take him a little more....At the end of the day it is all about enjoying God's creation and that is exactly what I did this year.....It definitely looks like 2012 was a good year for us all no matter what happened...We are just so fortunate to be able to do what we do....
I'll go First...My most memorable Moment of this Deer Season is actually a heart-Breaker...It wasn't the Nice Buck I took a shot at with a Cross-bow in the Rain but rather The other Heart-Break Archery hunt a few weeks later, Hunting with my Great friend that I meet on this very site and it was another Nice Buck that got away.
Don and myself had decided to call it a morning at 10 but I had climbed down about 30 minutes earlier because my butt was asleep...10 minutes on the ground and just sitting there waiting on Don I glance over and a Very Nice Buck was munching acorns about 40 yards away. I was able to nock a arrow and stand up and 'Guessed' him at 35 and missed!!! He just looked around and went back to munching acorns..I was able to stalk through wide open Virgin Timber with Don behind me watching it all and The Buck steps out of a little Dip with head down and gives me a perfectly broadside shot and what I 'guessed' was 20 to 23 Yards...I draw and murrrp!!! Dump the string and then Disaster!!!...Wearing a Scent-lok Jacket to knock the chill off, And with the Buck walking right to left and me being a left hand shooter....I'm thinking my Bow-string slapped my Jacket sleeve sending my arrow to far forward and busted Both of the Bucks front Legs...He was locked with the arrow until he finally broke it and ran 40 yards and stopped...I thought he was going down but he had other plans and plowed away over the hill and after a 4 hour search..Nothing more than Bone and Blood at impact...Since this time I have invested in a Nikon Rangefinder with ARC lol...I still lay at night and wonder (Actually hope) that the deer somehow made it...Hope I get another chance like that someday and thanks again Don for giving me the opportunity.
