Steel shot in factory chokes
So most all of the aftermarket turkey chokes state that they are not made for steek chokes. It'll ruin them fast.
But Most of those chokes also extend at least 2' pst the end of the barrel.
What about factory chokes? My Mossberg came with three chioles, imp cyl, mod and full. Full choke has a really nice tight pattern too.
Anyways, they fit flush inside the barrel. Not any part of them extend farther than the end of the barrel.
So I am thinking the barrel itself supports the chokes, unlike the extended chokes that stick out farther than the barrel - thus un re-enforced.
Or is it just that a aftermarket turkey choke narrows down so much that the pellets ( which are just too damn hard) just carve it away after x number of shots?
NOw, it's not that I plan to go out and buy a case of steel shot or anything, but if it ever happened that I eneded up wanting to try some...would they damage my factory chokes?

You can shoot steel shot with a imp cyl,or mod,but not a full unless it is made for steel shot which will be on the package.

THese are the factory made chokes that came with the rifle in the box when I bought it. Imp choke was already in barrel, the other two were in a plain clear mini ziplock bag with the choke wrench. They have an abbreviation saying Imp, cyl, mod, amd full.
They don't even have a part #, manufaCturer name or anything else printed/indented in them.

Yeah, Same Chokes that come with all Mossbergs...Like I said, I been shooting Steel through my MOD about all Duck Season

I duck hunted most of the Season with My Mossberg 930 and shot the Factory Modified Choke Tube shooting Steel Shot with no problems. They make special Ckokes for Waterfowl Hunters just as they do for Deer, Coyote and Turkey...Most waterfowl Chokes are Stainless Steel to handle such shot as Steel as some Turkey Chokes are...Even with some Turkey Chokes... You are advised NOT to shoot certain loads..For Example I have a Kicks Gobblin Thunder and it clearly states that it's NOT recommended for use with HEVI-SHOT or HEVY-13 Turkey loads...Just like some Turkey loads will state that they are NOT to be used in a Ported Choke Tube...Pays to do your homework when it involves a $70 Choke Tube...There's a new Turkey Choke out by Down&Dirty Outdoors Called The 'Haymaker' and it's advertised to shoot ANY load, ANY Shot, ANY Wad design on the Market...It also Cost about $70 but for me...I wouldn't shoot Steel shot through my Turkey Choke...Don't see any reason why you would want to?..That's why I started Carrying my Turkey Gun with MOD Choke because My 1100 Remington is Fixed FULL... But yeah with the Factory in the barrel Choke tubes..I haven't had any issues with steel shot........Good Luck
