  • The Flexin' Tom
Recently we chose to invest our money into a new Cuddyback trail camera and that investment has already paid off in just one short week. The camera is placed on the edge of a recently clear cut field. We put a deer feeder out to keep the deer around but it looks like we've got more turkey activity than we've got anything else! But hey, i'm not complaining. With turkey season just around the....  Read More

  • My Beautiful Wife and the Next Generation of Turkey Hunters due in August!
I travel a lot for work and as luck would have it, most of my traveling comes during turkey season. I missed all of last season while working in Turkey(Middle East). The irony was heart breaking. This year, thanks to my brother and his new bride, I was able to return from Argentina for two weeks starting Easter weekend through this Monday when I head to Tanzania. I have been fortunate to have....  Read More

Tagged Out! God was good this year and blessed me with 2 nice Tom's. Both were epic spot and stalks. The Tom's were tight lipped and would hang up everytime. I guess I was hunting educated birds. I'm kind of glad my hunts worked out the way they did because putting a stalk on a wise Tom was an exciting challenge! I know 'Creek' was crawling every inch with me while I was wearing 'Papa....  Read More

  • Blood spatter on the decoy is a good thing!
  • A 20 lb bird feels like 50 after jumping a few ditches and walking 1/2 mile!
  • A nice oak to hang it from for pictures.
I shot my first turkey ever in 2012, in what was an incredible hunt, one that is documented somewhere on this forum. I didn't get to hunt much (or at all?) last turkey season, but have had a few chances this year.

Got set up at 5am on some farm fields in Beaufort County. I had seen what I thought was one tom and a bunch of other birds from over a 1/2 mile away the morning before. Wasn't....  Read More

Friday Morning I tried to set up on 3 Tom's my cousin and I had at 75 yards on Monday afternoon. The rancher had a dead baby calf in the back of his truck he found killed by Coyotes on Sunday night.

I figured I would set up at the far corner end of the pasture. One side bordered by short pines and the other by mature pines.

I set the Avian 30 yards inside the pasture and tucked....  Read More

  • Still some luck in the Ole' Hat!
My Step-Father as we called him, Papa Bill. Passed away June 9th 2012. I told my mom that I wanted his fishing hat for the fishing memories. I saw his hat hanging in my office before my hunt so I decided to bring it and him along with me for luck.

Early Saturday morning with a crescent moon and one bright star rising in the eastern sky, I let out a couple of yelps. Right off 2 gobblers on....  Read More

  • One last photo sharing in the moment!
My life-long friend, Stack Bell, originally from Windsor, NC but now lives in Carolina Beach, has never been much on hunting or fishing. He leaned more towards skateboarding uptown or surfing at the beach rather than tracking animals in the woods or chasing tails offshore. Last summer, he came with me offshore where he caught his first White Marlin. The Outdoor Game has been full throttle since....  Read More

This was the first Spring Gobbler for my youngest son. He is 10 y/0. Long sit, but he capitalized with a 10 yard blast from his 20ga. youth model. 23.5# w/ 10' beard. Set the bar high I'd say!

Me and a friend of mine were out looking for a gobbler to shoot with my bow. So we went down to where I have seen tracks and got pictures of birds on my camera. So we snuck down there and heard nothing. We backed out of the area and circled around to head to a different location. I decided to call just to make sure that there wasn't a gobbler. We'll, right after I called the bird decided to....  Read More
