Hey guys I am new to this forum. I am moving to Fort Bragg in November from Fort Hood, TX. I am big into hog hunting down here and hoping to get some in NC. I have found a possible lease in Columbus County for a really good price, even though it is archery only. I have posted some map pics to see what you guys think if hogs would be on the property. I don't know what hogs like for land in NC,.... Read More
Here is a pic from a few days ago at one of my stands in SC. Most of the hogs are feeding under my feeder, but the ones in the background are either feeding on acorns or muscadines. They have a large area under a couple of old live oaks torn up. I noticed some green muscadines on the ground so am not sure whether they are after them or the acorns. Pic was taken around 4:00 PM on 6/28.
It was a pretty good night. 3000 acres is a lot to cover but thermal scanners and scopes make all the difference. A total of 61 hogs viewed but not all were aproachable due the wind. An AR10 and 15 are plenty for a spot and stalk hunt. Seldom over 50 yard shots. At last the farmers have harvested their wheat and we can see them clearly. It may only be a few weeks till the recently planted soy.... Read More
Tom Naumann runs a great 3500 acre hunting facility that is perfect for the hunter looking for an actual hunt. No dogs or fences as training wheels, just perfect habitat, sniper-like stand locations and Tom....who knows hogs like no other. A great lodge with everything a hunter needs and wants including a range and bass fishing lakes to use in your down time. I hunted two nights, plenty of.... Read More
I recently went on a hog hunt with Cherokee Run Outfitters in SC. Upon arrival it seemed to be a decent hunting lodge. Well as it turns out the hunting wasnt very good. No hogs to be seen by 8 hunters over two days. The outfitter actually went out and baited the property that we hunted and were going to hunt that evening the first afternoon we were there at our break from the woods? Throughout.... Read More
I have hunted (along with several friends) at Cherokee Run 6 times over the last 8 years. I have personally shot 2 hogs (boar and sow), 2 deer (nice buck and doe, and 1 turkey. I shot these animals on 4 of the 6 hunts, the other 2 I didn't see anything. I will continue to hunt with Tom at Cherokee Run because even on the hunts where I didn't see anything, we had a blast. We chose Cherokee Run.... Read More
I just joined this forum. I currently reside in Chesapeake, VA but was born and raised around Liberty, NC where I do the majority of my hunting. I own a few acres around Liberty and hope to move back there shortly now that I'm retired.
I love to hunt hogs and am looking for some place in NC to hunt them. As of now we don't have any hogs on our property. I make an annual trip to Texas.... Read More
Went down to the club land Wed evening after work to put out corn for the weekend. Walked up on several hogs at a wallow and shot a small boar. Then Sat morning, 5/17, sat in a ground blind overlooking my corn and shot this ~40-50# boar. There were a couple larger hogs both times, but since I was by myself I pulled the trigger on a smaller one. Much easier to field dress and get out, plus I have.... Read More

Anyone interested in joining a good club in SC for hog and deer? I live in Wilmington and recently joined a club near Georgetown that has lots of hogs and deer. It's a 2+ hr drive and would like to find someone locally to hunt there with sometimes. It's mainly an archery club, but you can gun hunt hogs after deer season goes out. Resonable club dues, $300.00, and lots of land and nice camping.... Read More
My son shot this boar at our club in SC this morning. He had planned to hunt a ground blind over looking a corn hole, but as he slipped in just after daylight he caught this hog in the bait pile. A head shot with his 243 put the hog down in it's tracks. I'm grateful I got to watch it all from just behind him. BTW, the time on my camera is incorrect, it was around 6:30am.
Well I thought I would share a couple recent successful hog hunts since nothing else is really going on.
The first hunt was towards the end of January. We had a pretty good snowfall and I wanted to get out and do some scouting. Well after walking what seemed like 5 miles I came to the back field of the property I was scouting. I noticed a group of hogs making there way out into the cut.... Read More
Its been raining for the last 2 months it seems but I never realized that it could be a good thing in the hog hunting world. Decided to check a few seldom hunted locations that were on ridges . Even a hog dosen't want to stay in water all the time. Especialy when the water is below freezing. Not 15 minutes after entering the stand I caught sight of him just ambling down the ridge. Looking like.... Read More
