With the beautiful 70 degree and slightly overcast day planned ahead Capt. Butch and Barbara along with BoBo and myself decided to make a trip Whiting fishing. After fighting a little fog to get anchored up on our desired location, Capt. Butch had one in the boat before anyone else even had gotten their bait on! 'They're biting!' he sounded and soon we all 3 were bringing.... Read More
Here it is almost Thanksgiving and I think the Speckled trout fishing will go to Christmas this year; I hope! With all this up and down weather the fishing has really been up and down too; Iíve had some very good days of fishing. The problem has been as soon as it gets good the weather changes and Iíve got the start my hunt for fish all over again. Here are some of the tactics Iíve been using.... Read More
With this past Saturday looking so nice my father and I decided that we would try and catch a speckled trout. The trout bite was not great, but we had one of those incredible mornings that you always remember. Ended up with 2 trout 20' each, about 10 small throw back flounder up to 14 1/2' and 25-30 red drum from 19' to 25'! All of this was caught in 3 hours! So glad to get to do it with.... Read More
Today we were supposed to head offshore with Chris Gravely and Drew Harrison from Charlotte, NC. but the NNE winds we have had lately made the seas offshore just too rough to have a good time trying to fish. So, we opted to stay on the beach and try for the Big Bull Red Drum we have near shore this time of year.
We started off at AR-425 and I just didn't like what I was seeing..... Read More
Thanks to Friend and Guide Capt. Stacy for giving us the low down on some Hot Red Fish action Oct 18 & 19th off Sunset Beach. Boated 18 Bull Reds and broke off 40 lb Cobia..Great Trip........Thanks Mark!!!!!!!!
We fished the CALO rock jetty 10/26 and 10/27. The gray trout were there in mass. We caught hundreds over the two days. We didn't even see any under 14 inches and caught a lot over 20 inches. We caught the occasional speck but they were all under 14 inches. Great trip!
Tried to get out, didn't make it to far, came back in for some good Redfish. Live bait was the ticket, pogeys spread out but after a dozen throws had the livewell full. Hooked up to a big spinner shark too for some great action.
Landed my biggest Redfish ever this weekend at Masonboro Inlet. This one was 42 inches and 20 lbs even. I had to pull him out from under the anchor line of another boat as it was an absolute zoo out there with 10 other boats battling for position. That was a fight and a half and I can't wait to do it again. They were hitting anything that drifted in front of them. Bigger baits seemed to do.... Read More
I caught these fish while out on the lower Cape Fear River with my buddy Dylan Elks. The trout hit a topwater plug early that morning and the red hit a 6' live pogy on a bottom rig later just before noon. This is my biggest redfish to date and one of the prettiest trout I\'ve ever caught. Almost had an inshore slam with a flounder on a Gulp shrimp but lost him at the boat from a weak.... Read More
Whoo, had a great day of fishing off the surf at Fort Macon on the afternoon of Oct. 4th. We caught our limit on sea mullet and they were biting really well for at least a good hour or so. Then as it usually does they stopped biting like turning off a light switch. What a great day it was to be at the coast fishing!
After several cancellations I finally got my trip in with the crew from General Motors. Big thanks to Trapp Chevrolet in Houma for setting me up with the crew and for the very nice truck I've obtained through them. If you're looking for a Chevy truck there's no better place to start looking than Trapp! Curtis Heard,Jeff Miller and Bryan Cook.... Read More
A great day of fishing with GS Rentals out of north Louisiana. Hit the water early after a great relaxing night at the Lakehouse Lodge. The reds put on a show as it was 'fish on' on almost every cast after we found them stacked up feeding on small 2 in. pogies. Talk about 4 guys who had a blast tackling the bronzebacks!! Its all good in Dularge!
Hi Folks, It's been a while, but the fishing has not been at its best. Things are picking up! Nice weather and less rain has allowed the water to clean up some and the fish have liked that, a lot. Now here's my report: INSHORE: Red drum are biting in the cleaner waters. They are hitting top water plugs like the She Dog and the Super Spook early in the morning. As the sun gets high live.... Busted up the yellowmouths with Steve Jackson and crew. We had the fish going with hook-ups every cast on LSU and Cajun Pepper Bayou Chubs. The water was clear and clean at the Picketts and it only took a couple hours to ice up our 100 fish. Capt Brady Giroir pulled up next to us and whacked another 100 nice trout by 10:00AM with Mack Thomassee and crew. Both groups.... Read More
