Went out with some good friends the other week to chase the large schools of red drum in the surf around Wrightsville Beach. After about 5 minutes of searching we stumbled upon a large upper slot school of 300+ fish.... it was game on from there. The fish were blowing up on almost any bait we threw at them gulp, swim baits, and even topwater! Great day of some awesome fishing!
Recently moved to Wilmington for college and have quickly fallen in love with Saltwater and inshore fishing in particular. Have been chasing These beautiful fish since i got here and finally was blessed enough to hook up on this awesome fish tonight in the surf. Right out of the inlet in the breakers, fish hit cut bluefish. Put up one heck of a fight and left me with the infamous RedFish....
Large school of Bulls came into the surf Wednesday night on Ocracokes south point. We were fishing the false point until around 9pm the last truck left off the main south point. We moved the truck and gear and were in for some heavy action. After soaking bait for 30 minutes we were in a blitz. I've seen puppy drum run like this but not large drum and I've never caught a citation. For about....

After a short run we made our first stop. BAM!!! Redfish after Redfish along with a good mixture of Drums. THEN the weather took a turn for the worst. After returning to the dock for almost 2 hours the rain....

Capt Brady Giroir and I headed out with the crew at daybreak and had no problem putting the guys on all the reds they could handle. Today I had the pleasure of fishing with a great bunch of guys. I had Stan, his friend Harry and Kenny and his son Champ. The guys caught fish after fish on every cast. This was the first time I had ever seen a teen say he had caught enough and put the pole in the rod holder. The guys finished the day with 75 nice specks, 10 reds and 6 sheep heads.
