Kevin Boyce killed this nice main frame 8 with one kicker on November 23, 2012. This buck came in at 5:00 p.m. working its way through the swampy area he was hunting. After watching the buck feed a while, the buck opened himself up to a clear vital shot. Kevin shot the buck with his Remington Model 700 270 cal rifle using Hornady Custom 140 grain bullets. My hunt started on the evening of Thursday, December 27th, 2012. My father and I were sitting in a soybean field in person county, North Carolina. 10 year old Cody 'Tadpole' Acosta doubles up on Christmas Eve 2012 as he harvests these two does. During Cody's traditional Christmas Eve hunt he shot the first doe at 185 yards. The second doe was harvested 20 minutes later at 181 yards. Neither deer could handle the .243 round and dropped where they were shot. At 4:40 we had about a dozen does come in and I asked dad if I could shoot one because we hadnt been seeing many deer lately. He said they aint going no where so lets wait a few minutes. 9 year old Cole Grant harvested this 15 point Buck while hunting in Cabarrus County with his father Brandon Grant. Cole has been hunting and fishing with his father and grandfather since he could walk. His dream is to be on the cover of the Sportsman Magazine one day. He loves reading it with his dad every month when it comes in the mail.

This 10 point was shot on November 24 at 5 pm.It was a very windy day and because of that I decided to carry a rifle instead of my bow. Proof that the rut brings the big boys out during shooting hours and they let their guard down. Being in the right spot at the right time helps also. Missed this deer two days before i killed him. Went back in the same area but approx 500 yards from where i seen him at couple days before and was not there 30 minutes and he was on the move. Didnt make it far.

I just really got 'into' hunting this year and what a great way to start my hunting adventures. I got a good look at this seven point buck from about 125 yards away this morning and took a patient, first shot. Me and my stepdad got him to his house on the ATV and he weighed 175 pounds. I hunted this buck hard throughout Bow season. I hunt in Irdell Co. and for those who know we dont have an over abuntant amount of BIG bucks, so I was really excited about him. On the first friday morning of black powder season he walked out onto a open white oak ridge.
