I killed this bird on April 19th in. 11 inch beard. 1 1/4 Spurs. Weighing around 20lbs. After hearing 4 birds that morning, I started working 3 birds but all of them had hens and wouldn't come. I kept hearing this bird gobble his head off. I knew he was hot. So I got up and started after this bird. After a long walk to get to him, a few yelps and soft clucks on the slate he came right in.

On April 18 I was able to harvest a nice Tom with a 10 inch beard and a little over 1 inch spurs. I was familiar with this bird because my dad and I got in him Saturday morning. He was very vocal and gobbling like crazy at every crow that 'cawed' that morning. We snuck in the woods and began calling to him which got a gobble each time. Once he flew down he gobbled several more times and then....  Read More

Thanks to my buddy for calling him right in naturally without a decoy or caller and doing an awesome job! I was and still one happy country gal.

My wife Rhonda has been very, very blessed when it comes to deer hunting...but she's been totally 'snake-bit' as far as turkey hunting is concerned. That's fair enough I guess...it sort of balances out.

Actually though, Rhonda's turkey hunting 'career' started off with a BANG. She bagged a nice jake the very first time I....  Read More

My daughter has scored on opening day 3 of the last 4 years!! After our successful hunt I gave her a special call I had made for her. I also want to share the hunt in her own words as she shared it on FB: here's what she wrote........4th year in a row and 3rd down. As we walked across the field with excitement and eagerness, memories for another youth day were in the making. You see as we moved....  Read More

Hunting in North Carolina
Hey guys, I'm in the process to relocating to the Charlotte, NC area from south Louisiana with my job.

I am currently looking to decide on a home and an important part of the decision making process for me is hunting and fishing opportunities in the area I choose (and of course schools, distance to work, etc...). I am considering communities in both SC and NC.

Our club is interested in branching out from our traditional food plots and wanting to incorporate some fruit/mast producing trees. Obviously its a longer term project but one we are committed to. I'm looking for local nurseries that may carry select varieties, including crabapples, persimmons, pears, etc.

Hog Hunting in Eastern North Carolina
I'm going to be on vacation in the Outer Banks in July, in South Nags Head. I'm looking to possibly do some hog hunting while I'm there. Is there any public land, or any farms that are looking for people to get rid of some hogs, in the mainland near the Manteo area? If anyone knows of a spot please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I was so impressed with her being able to aim true and make the shot with so much going on around her. Needless to say, she had a blast! The smile says it all! If ya get a chance to take a kid,....  Read More

My name is Skylar Martin. I took this massive 7 year old, 10 point buck on Novemeber 28th in Guilford County. I had been watching this deer on trail camera for the last 5 years and never seen him in person. it all started about a month and a half ago, when my dad (Dale Martin) had went hunting after work, and since it had been raining he got off early. Around 5:30 I had got a call that he had....  Read More

On November 6, 2015 I had the best day in woods I have ever had! I was fortunate enough to shoot the larger deer first thing this morning. He came strolling through a oak bottom and ended up standing 40 yards in front of me while I was busy looking at the news on my phone. Luckily I looked up and almost dropped my phone and gun. I quickly shoved my phone in my pocket and raised my gun. I knew he....  Read More
