200 lb 10 point. Typical 5 x 5. This deer came in at 6:30 am while hunting with my wife. He gave me a broadside shot at about 50 yards. After the shot I waited about an hour and found a little blood so decided to back out for 4 hours. When I came back my wife tracked light blood trail for about 75 yards where he was laying. Truly blessed to have taken such a beautiful animal and the best part is....
I had been hunting grandpa since I got him on trail cam in late October he would never show his self in day light then finally on 11/04/15 after sitting all day in the rain around 5:00 there was 3 does and a small 6 point also a 4 point on the corn pile around 5:15 they got spooked I thought it was some bear's I had been seeing and then I heard what I thought was a buck rubbing in....
So I've been doing quite a bit of duck hunting and there have been several occasions that deer have walked up on us close enough to shoot but I have never taken a shot due to uncertainty. My question is to everyone... is it legal to shoot a deer with steel shot while duck hunting?
Can you believe this? video
My son, just turned 15, has out grown his bow. He has grown so much this year. When we bought this bow last summer, it was perfect. We have since changed the draw several times and maxed the poundage. He is a great shot, winning his class in most his 3d tourneys. When he asked if I would allow him to shoot this buck, I was hesitant because this type buck usually....
Here's my opinion: You bloodthirsty, backwards bastards have SIX, count um, SIX other days of the week to go out and kill things. It would not pain you one little bit to NOT kill things on Sunday. Every creature on the face of this earth deserves at least one day of the week to rest and regroup. I can only imagine how a deer or other forest animal must feel. Some stupid yahoo goes into....
Haven't had much rut activity, but as the week moves on and it gets colder, I expect the rut to pick up. Many rubs and scrapes. Seen some really big does, but not any bucks chasing. I have waited to see if a buck would walk in. not a buck in sight. Have some really nice ones on the camera.
I had the privlage in harvesting this buck on 10/29/2015 at 0800 hours, in Rockingham County. I place two scent bombs out that had Trails End #307. Around 0745 hours pulled out my Primos can call and made three estrus bleats. Then at 0755 hours I started hearing in what sounded like a squirrel jumping on a tree limb. I immediately look in that direction from where the sound was coming from, and....
John Mercer harvested a monster Whitetail from Wayne County NC, opening day of blackpowder season, it has14 total points, it gross green scores 183.75 .possibly the largest buck legally taken in the county.
I was blessed to harvest this Wilson county buck with my black powder gun on the first Tuesday of the season. After getting many trail cams of this deer since August I was finally able to shoot him yesterday. He was a 4.5 year old 8 pointer last year and blew into a nice mature 5.5 year old 10 pointer this year. My wife Mollie and I had hunted him a couple of times during bow season seeing him....
Here is a sequence of a doe sensing danger, blowing the alarm and her snot and breath spraying into the air and hanging like a cloud from a steam engine. I think it's a pretty cool montage of something we all hate to hear :).
I'm looking for an outdoor range to practice shooting a rifle. Can anyone recommend a shooting club or range that allows rifles. I prefer outdoor ranges and would like a minimum of 100yds. I live near Apex, NC and convenience would be preferred. Looking for a place to take kids to practice. Thanks in advance
About this time last weekend, on opening day of bow season, I shot my biggest buck to date. I heard him and another buck sparring in the woods before stepping out into the field I was hunting. I shot him at 20 yards slightly quarting towards me with my Barnett crossbow. He ran about 70 yards and then slid down a gully into the creek.
Thanks to my hubby for watching our two little ones and....
