Hunting in Eastern North Carolina
Our club is interested in branching out from our traditional food plots and wanting to incorporate some fruit/mast producing trees. Obviously its a longer term project but one we are committed to. I'm looking for local nurseries that may carry select varieties, including crabapples, persimmons, pears, etc.

Hog Hunting in Eastern North Carolina
I'm going to be on vacation in the Outer Banks in July, in South Nags Head. I'm looking to possibly do some hog hunting while I'm there. Is there any public land, or any farms that are looking for people to get rid of some hogs, in the mainland near the Manteo area? If anyone knows of a spot please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Got an opportunity to take my 10 year old daughter Raccoon Hunting. Neither one of us had ever been before and a friend of a friend wanted to work his dog a little bit so we were able to tag along. I was so impressed with her being able to aim true and make the shot with so much going on around her. Needless to say, she had a blast! The smile says it all! If ya get a chance to take a kid,....  Read More

My name is Skylar Martin. I took this massive 7 year old, 10 point buck on Novemeber 28th in Guilford County. I had been watching this deer on trail camera for the last 5 years and never seen him in person. it all started about a month and a half ago, when my dad (Dale Martin) had went hunting after work, and since it had been raining he got off early. Around 5:30 I had got a call that he had....  Read More

On November 6, 2015 I had the best day in woods I have ever had! I was fortunate enough to shoot the larger deer first thing this morning. He came strolling through a oak bottom and ended up standing 40 yards in front of me while I was busy looking at the news on my phone. Luckily I looked up and almost dropped my phone and gun. I quickly shoved my phone in my pocket and raised my gun. I knew he....  Read More

Hunting Dogs in Eastern North Carolina
Hi All,
I have come back to hunting this year after a 30 year time out. I am having a great time trying to bag a deer after all these years. My previous hunting experience from age 11 to 28 was all in PA with very restrictive laws. Up there, dogs are used for birds and small game, but strictly prohibited for deer, so I have a question on how to handle a situation where a dog pack runs a....  Read More

After a good season deer hunting,I decided I would change things a bit and spent the first day of 2016 doing something I love...squirrel hunting. It was a good choice because I had a blast. it was the first time I have ever bagged my limit for the day. I also killed some of the biggest squirrels I have ever killed. I killed a total of 7 and went back this morning for an hour or so before I....  Read More

On June 14, 2015 our baby girl Ariel was born. She had complications after birth and she passed away on July 1, 2015. I had dreamed of taking both of my kids hunting. But God had much bigger plans for her short life. This deer season I was dedicating to her since I will not ever be able to take her hunting. On December 10th around 10am this 11 point deer came into the field chasing three does.....  Read More

The afternoon of November 21. The white 8 point buck had been seen in the area for the past three weeks. I went to the stand with no intentions of seeing this buck. Just before dark I heard something moving to the right of the stand I looked out of the box stand and was amazed at what I saw. The buck was no more that 50 yards from my stand in the cut over, I raised my 308 rifle and took the shot....  Read More

I was wondering what individuals views were on the regulations in place in our state such as buck harvest. Should this be one instead of two in the western part of the state and maybe two in the east? Should there be antler restrictions on the buck allowable for harvest in order to increase to the average buck age harvested from 2.5 to a 4.5? I believe the wildlife commission has it correct on....  Read More

Subject: Hunting on Sunday

1. I scouted the area all summer.

2.I searched out the best location for my tree-stand.

3.I set it all up a month ahead of time.

4. I watched the deer herd with binoculars from a long distance to see which trails they were using.

5. I picked out a trophy buck.

6. Two days before opening day I rechecked every....  Read More

I purchased a tree stand in august and Robert Burns had said I would have it before labor day. It didn't come until after labor day. Well he sent me a stand I didn't order and from what kburns said it was on purpose and the stand they sent was more expensive. I explained it wouldn't work for all the areas i hunt and needed the stand that I ordered. He said I could use the stand he sent until I....  Read More

Purchased a tree stand at the Feb. 2012 Harrisburg PA Sportsmans Show. I still have not received the stand or a refund. I have left countless messages for Robert Burns but he has not returned calls. Filed with the BBB and Kay Burns promised a refund several months ago, that still has not arrived.

Biggest deer I have ever gotten. Killed him Monday evening. Did not find him until Tuesday. Shot him at 320 yards with 308. The picture of him standing was taken 2 hours before I got him. The camera belonged to another hunter and is about 600 yards from where I shot him.

This morning Saturday,Nov. 28.2015, I got up early and went to the handicapped blind off of Shaw Hwy. in Pender county. It is about a half mile past the entrance to Holly Shelter off of Shaw Hwy. This is my first time hunting there this deer season, I checked the day before and they had put back the damaged blind. So I was really fired up. After waiting for daylight to get there and warm up it....  Read More

Public Lands in Eastern North Carolina
Are there any groups/hunt clubs who use hounds on the public lands in the Croatan Forest or other gamelands around New Bern/Jacksonville? A buddy of mine and I are looking to join up and hunt with folks who use hounds. Would not mind helping out with dog food.

Killed this nice 8 point in Moore county on a late morning hunt when the moon was underfoot called him in and he was ready for a fight. Took him down with my 270 and dropped him right where he was standing. He weighed in at 164 and scored 141 3/8
