North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries' Louis Daniel discusses his agency's stance on gamefish status and how he sees the management of the state's coastal fisheries in the attached video.

Be sure to listen to his assessment of the value of the recreational fishery vs. that of the commercial side of things, and what gamefish status would ultimately mean for the charterboat industry.

It looks like there's a move to ignore the issue of gamefish status for redfish, speckled trout and stripers when the legislative Saltwater Review Committee begins meeting this month.

Check out the details at http://www.northcarolinasportsman.com/details.php?id=2278, and be sure to let committee members know that you support protecting these species.
