I've been seeing this deer for around 5 weeks it's always been at night but last Tuesday morning I finally got a daytime picture it was at 9:40am.This morning I got in the stand around 7am and he passed through about 7:50am but he was deep in the brush and I couldn't get a shot. Then around 9am I had 4 does run through the woods and him chasing right behind. Then 9:30 one doe came back to the....  Read More

Been hunting the Orange and Chatham county area for more than 20yrs, year after year the deer have been plentiful. If you put 10 bags of corn out the deer would have it eat in less than a week. You would have to put corn out twice a week if you wanted some on the ground Saturday morning, that's how many deer would be on your spot. 15 to 25 deer every time you sat in the tree. I know we have a....  Read More

  • Will Davis shot this 143 6/8 with a bow in stanly county. This was a big surprise once we found the
143 6/8 Bow kill in Stanly county was a surprise. This is by far the biggest buck I have ever killed with my bow. I never knew he was that big until I walked up to him.

I here people talk about the lack of deer and people say that they are in the woods eating acorns which are in abundant. Well, the reason they are in abundant is because there are fewer deer eating them. Our harvest records are half of what they were. We are seeing 75% less deer than last year. Corn is lasting 2 weeks vs 2 days. NCWRC can say all they want, we do have a disease and it is....  Read More

I was very surprised to see this deer on November 10th, the wind was blowing and it was right around 70 degrees. At 5:20 pm he appeared and after the smoke cleared I knew he was a decent buck. Green Scored 151 6/8.

Well, as a newbie and a, well, Yankee, I am going to say ( Not that you need any more Northern Opinions!)
that what I have been seeing on this site is very impressive. I have seen some truly spectacular bucks here. There is a huge difference in the way and seasons of hunting in NC vs Pa. I also like the fact there are many women and youngsters in the field in NC. What I have noticed is that....  Read More

I usually process my own deer but, I am seriously contemplating having it done this season. Does anyone know of a good place to have it done in Rowan county preferably between Salisbury and Statesville? I live in Woodleaf.

We got our first hunt of the season on film and my 10 yr old son finished the deal with a nice shot. A little disappointed we shot a button buck, but still overall a great hunt and he was super excited. Made for some great jerky and nice grilled tenderloins.

This is my son Jared. He had told me he had been seeing a buck in a small swamp behind our house. He was seeing him regularly but the deer wouldn't present a good shot. I must confess, I thought he was pulling my leg! On Halloween day he fed our hounds and told me he was going behind the house to hunt. He had been in the woods for 5 minutes when I heard his shotgun fire. at 14 years old, He did....  Read More

Last Saturday Oct 18 I got into the box stand in hopes of seeing the tall 8 point that we have had on camera. We new he was in the area and deer had started pushing does around, making their scrapes, and hitting antlers together. Around 5:30 a doe ran across the path at 315 yards followed closely by a small 6 point. About 10 minutes later he walked out right behind the first buck. I....  Read More

Im hearing a lot of things from a lot of folks that suggest the rut maybe already coming on strong this year. From bucks already chasing hard to a good friend killing a mature 8 pt this past friday that came into his stand nose to the ground, about 200 yds behind a doe, swole up and soaked in sweat. Had another good friend who saw 5 bucks killed on the side of the road in a 15 mile commute home....  Read More
