Got a little long over-due Fishing in This evening with my Daughter and we really didn't care what we caught if anything but ended up catching a assortment of High Rock Fish but mostly Crappie..She's ready to go back!!!!!! Felt Great to get out on the water!!!!
I'm wanting to go down to Badin and try and target some blues. I would like to know how its mostly done. I usually fish High Rock and I anchor down and fish on the bottom in about 16 ft of water but I know Badin is much, much deeper than this. We normally only catch flatheads and channels.
I'm not sure if I need to try and drift or find somewhere not so deep and.... Read More
Hi Folks,
This has been the most unusual early fishing season I personally have experienced in over 16 years of professional fishing. This past weekend saw an explosion of near shore fishing, while inshore fishing with the exception of the river, has slooooooooooooowed way down. Winds have been consistently SW for a good period and have brought good fishing to the area. The SW winds are.... Read More
We've been enjoying some great fishing this week here on the DU! 300 nice trout caught so far with yesterday being the only really windy day. Big thanks to our customers including Gary Hughes & crew, Steve Ller and Abita Lumber. I fished 2 days with Gary Hughes and his friends Steve & Carl. They busted up the trout catching 150 trout and a couple nice reds. LSU,Chicken On A Chain and.... Read More
I am considering a long Memorial holiday weekend camping in the Cape Lookout National seashore. I am pretty much self contained, 4x4, firewood, tent and have a lot of experience roughing it in the bush. Wondering if anyone has some pointers about specifically where to go, where to camp, fishing opportunities out there, etc.
Thanks!
Lee
Finally the weather decided to cooperate with the fishermen today! The Yeah Right II broke the Cape Fear Inlet this morning in time to capture the true beauty of nature as the sun came up! Joining us were Jeff and Brandon Peacock of Kernersville, NC alongside Denver Compton of Rustburg, VA and Mike Neighbors of Goode, Va and Todd Willis of Lynchburg, VA on a Gulf Stream expedition! It was.... Read More
Fished Tillery on Sunday and did real well. Caught 9 flatheads, two biggest at 32 and a 50lber. That 50 was one I was looking for. Had alot of fun fighting that fish. Also got 6 blues up to 30lbs. Using all live bait.
BREAKING NEWS: I will have to apologize and “eat crow” about the D.O.E. article I posted on the website late last Thursday night. The day after I posted the article, I received an e-mail from a Mr. Mark S. Morgan, Regulatory Counsel for the Petroleum Marketers Association of America regarding this article. He points that the D.O.E. mandate is in fact correct, BUT, it applies only to the.... Read More
First Bass in North Carolina since I moved here. I had the privilege of fishing with my best friend Will Tyler whom I have known for years now. We served in the Marine Corps together and still are great friends. Luckily both started a new life here in this wonderful state. Needless to say it was a wonderful morning on Lake Sutton. This guy weighed in right around 9 pounds and I have NEVER caught.... Read More
We enjoyed another good week of trout fishing but cancelled this mornings trips and may have to do the same tomorrow as the forecast is not looking good. Hopefully we'll get a reprieve from the weather as we have 6 boats schelduled to run tomorrow. As you all know the big numbers of trout will be caught in the outside waters and the winds won't allow us to get to.... Read More

It was a great morning to do the DU as the weather cooperated and the trout were hungry. My crew couldn't have been any better as these guys can fish and our 100 fat trout by 10:00 am proved it!.... Great trout action on the DU! Our trout fishing is about as good as it gets. The good news is that the trout have finally shown up at the island and ship shoal platforms. No need to go that far just yet as I've limited out by 10:00 am the past 3 days in the Sister Lake/Lake Mechant area. For you guys in the smaller boats, there are still big numbers of 16-20 inch fish in the.... Read More
