  • Mark Patterson waits for a Spanish mackerel bite while fishing about 500 yards east of Ocean Crest P
The Southeast Coast is reeling from the monsoon rains of last week, but there are a few places where the fish have escaped the dirty water pouring down the Cape Fear River and are biting. One of the fish that are biting well is Spanish mackerel. Puppy drum and flounder are biting well and spots are beginning to show for pier fishermen in growing numbers. There have even been a few reports of....  Read More

Didn't plan on shooting a video on this day but the Bass, trout, reds and flounder were biting a little so we decided to pull out the camera. Quick change of pace on this video catching all species of fish without a boat in site. All fish caught on 'Shrimp Creole' Matrix Shad. We had fun on this day but the heavy action is still in the....  Read More

Can anyone tell me what times of the year are best for fishing at Lake Jordan. I have fished mostly spring and gotten cats, crappie and bass. Just wondered what kind of fishing there is in other seasons. I don't have a boat so mainly fish from the shore or pier. Thanks for the info.

Freshwater Fishing in North Carolina
It was about 11:45 Saturday morning when I cut the belly out of a large gizzard shad. It took about fifteen minutes until he bit the bait. I missed the first time but got him a minute later and was up against the fight of my life. It lasted about five minutes and he didn't surface till about the last two minutes. We had him up against the dock and got The Fish Grip on him. He weighed 46 pounds....  Read More

Went out with some good friends the other week to chase the large schools of red drum in the surf around Wrightsville Beach. After about 5 minutes of searching we stumbled upon a large upper slot school of 300+ fish.... it was game on from there. The fish were blowing up on almost any bait we threw at them gulp, swim baits, and even topwater! Great day of some awesome fishing!

  • Gary Hicks from WVA with a 12 lb. LKN striper that ate a live herring in 35 ft. of water in a major
  • Tim Ferguson of Denver with a pretty hybrid caught on a live shad.
  • Thom Bessette & grandson Foster with an 11 lb. LKN striper that ate a freelined live crappie.
The striper fishery on LKN may not be all the way back, but it's on its way. The new hybrids are doing great, with good topwater action many days. They can be caught deep on live bait or artificials when tehy are not near the surface. The stripers that remain are good size, for LKN, with 10-13 lb'ers mixed in with the 5-8 lb. fish. Though the hybrids are reaching legal length, please practice....  Read More
