Hog we killed Weighed in at about 250 pounds. We hunt with black mouth curs and catahoula bull dogs. This hog was too mean to stab with a knife so we ended up shooting him with a pistol for the safety of our dogs but overall he was a great boar and definitely a hunt to remember.
9am hog shot with 12ga shotgun. Had to cut the hog in three to get it to the truck. This was a long day but wouldnt have had it any other way and wish i had a game cart or atv of such. On public land December 7th.
Hello to all.
I'm new to the forum and new to hog hunting, I'm Retired/Disabled and don't get around as I did in my earlier years, I'd like to do some Hog hunting and was curious which County is best? I live in Concord and I've heard that Anson is one of the best, If theres anyone out there that knows of some good hunting areas I'd appreciate the info.
While hunting deer on a managed hunt at Currituck National Wildlife Refuge in Currituck County Oct. 1, I was blessed with what has to be a hunter's dream come true.
Situated in the scrub oaks on a marsh line between the bay marsh and inland marsh, I saw something dark running out of the inland marsh through the trees toward the bay side. Not sure if it was a horse or hog, I waited until.... Read More
I am new to NC originally from Minnesota. We dont have Hogs back home and I have always wanted to get the chance to hunt them. I have prior hunting experience (deer, duck, squirrel ect...) I am really looking for some one willing to take a new to the area and sport hunter and show me the ropes so I can start putting a little hog in the freezer!
Here is a picture of a giant hog that I killed earlier in the year. It was a hunt that I will not soon forget. I hunted this guy for a month solid before dropping the hammer on him. Once I got my first trail cam picture of this fella I knew that I wouldn't quit until he was in the bag!
Had four small hogs come out, 28 yards away. I had to kneel in the stand and could not get a clean shot on one. So I waited. Looking at the angle, I figured if I got a pass-thru with the arrow I could take the top part of the lung on one and the lower lung/heart on the one beside him.
Let's just say it was executed perfectly as both ran about 20 yards before dropping and were only about 15.... Read More
I'm a 62 year old grandfather of 7, from southeast north carolina- Southport. I'm new to this area and would like to take my 2 sons-in-law out to hunt wild hogs. We have not hunted hogs before, but we want to track and stalk, not sit and shoot hogs in a barrel. Any landowners out there willing to let us hunt your land? We are respectful and willing to split the harvest. Thank you.
