My 17 year old daughter was using a grunt call. This is what caused the buck to come up. She was 200 yards away in another stand and the deer was heading her way. However there was no way of knowing if this big brute would walk all the way to her, so I decided to take the shot. He was killed in harnett county on November 21st 2015 at 4:55 pm with a 30-06 and was dropped where he stood 75 yards....  Read More

In early October during bow season I had the misfortune of my crossbow string breaking and bending a cam. Lacking a muzzleloader, I opted to spend a little more money purchase a muzzleloader and prepare for muzzleloader season rather than repair my crossbow. Fast forward to November 10th, two days after a long drenching and a lot of complaining about the rain, when Lady Luck decided to pay me a....  Read More

My name is Angelina Gentry. I am 12 years old and today my dream came true. I killed my very first deer and it was an 8 point buck. I used a Mossberg 243 that my daddy taught me how to shoot and I made a perfect shot. I want to thank my daddy and a special thanks to my friend Scottie Morris for getting me set up just right to get my first deer.

After growing up a quail hunter and never setting foot in a deer blind for the first 50 years of his life, Barry Bryant was introduced to deer hunting by his son Daniel about 5 years ago. Daniel had already been hunting for 5 years himself, going on annual trips with his college buddies to the eastern part of the state and then building stands on family property in Yadkin County to extend the....  Read More

On the afternoon of December 21st. My girlfriend decided to go hunting with me and this being her first year of shooting and only killing one deer in the past. We got in the box stand. About 5:15 pm a big white rack appears from the woods to our right coming out to the corn pile. I can tell it is a very nice deer I raised my rifle to see the size of the buck and I am in shock. As this nice 10....  Read More

I was fortunate enough to get this big 10-point buck with my crossbow. I had just downed a doe with it and dropped her where she stood. As there were several large rubs on trees in this area and the weather had just broke from a 12 day rain, I stayed put in the tree - hoping for a chance at the buck that made the rubs. Just 20 minutes later my dream came true. This big 10-point buck came along.....  Read More

Kill the big 9 the 2nd week of muzzeloader season in was going to give up on that spot. But my buddy said just keep on Hunting it he may show up. And on November 10th he finally showed up. He came out of a pine thicket and looked at 4 does and I didn't give him a chance to start chasing them. I shot immediately and he dropped in his tracks. Thank you lord for a deer of a life time

Want to start off in apology I accidentally deleted my first one I submitted. The odds were against from the beginning. First off I woke up late 0700 so I rushed around trying to get ready in a hurry. Once I got ready I went to one of my hunting spots , and while walking in since it was already daylight I started my hunt trying to ease through the woods as quitly as I could hoping not to spook....  Read More

There were two bucks one was rubbing a tree didn't see the rack. I was watching the other buck following a hot doe coming past my shooting lane. I was hunting a thicket and had to be ready for an opening. My encore shoots 70 grains Blackhorn 209 and a 350 grain hornady FPB. and I slipped it just behind that bucks right shoulder. And took this fine 10 point at 8 40 am 11-20-15 last day of....  Read More

I have been hunting hard for the past few weeks trying to get this deer after I had a miss a few weeks back. Persistence pays off, and I was gratefully rewarded with this Guilford county monster.

8 point, 18 1/2 inches wide, 10 inch G2. The was actually my 2nd encounter with this deer. I seen him opening day of muzzelloader and took a shot at him and missed him. We looked for the deer every time we hunted in that area but he was no where to be found. I was sitting the ladder stand on 12/5/15 and the deer walked out and gave me a 45yd shot and my ruger 270 laid it to him. I found him the....  Read More

After a fifteen minute boat ride, a hike up a mountain, followed by a mile long walk (for the third day in a row), I finally got to lay eyes on the buck I had been waiting for. At about 8:00am, after can calling followed with a few short grunts, I could hear this deer coming to me. He finally stepped out of a thicket about 100 yards away. At that point, there were too many limbs in the way to....  Read More

On December 9, 2015 I was hunting in the evening. I was watching 2 does walking around hoping they would give me a shot. I realized they kept looking in at something behind them, I turned my head to look and before I laid eyes on it I heard this Monster buck grunt at the does. At that point I was shaking out of my boots. He walked toward the does and I knew he wouldn't come any closer so I made....  Read More
