Hears the story on what happened the day i shot my first archery buck.
It was the second day (14SEP14) of my first legit archery hunting season. I was in a bean field i had barely reconed so i had no clue what was there other than a few little bucks i had seen early that spring. Got there around 6 and got up in my stand overlooking this pretty bean field.
I gave this young buck a 'free pass' for the 2014 season. He needed a couple of years before he would be a trophy. On the morning of September the 20th, he and a cowhorn where eating acorns under my stand a first light. They where joined by a larger buck who was raking his rack in the branches of small dogwoods. As the three started to leave the area, the cowhorn lead, this small rack buck was....
I have had alot of daytime pics of him coming in between 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm for last month. So I got into the stand on opening day of bow at 12 pm with my parker xbow. At about 1:30 the limb on my crossbow decides to splinter and break. So I have to climb down and get my wisper creek archery bow and return to stand now 2:30. I knew my hunt was over at this point. At about 7:15 I saw him coming....

Then looking to my right I seem antlers coming up from the bottom heading towards food plot. Well after about 15....
I shot this buck with my muzzleloader on Nov 12th in Randolph County. He measured 19 inches inside with 8 points. He came in the field with 10 does to feed. I was excited but made a good shot. Very glad to see those antlers sticking up out of the grass when looking for him! Thanks to a great friend for letting me hunt on his land.
Eric Eller, while hunting on private land in Eastern Rowan County, shot this 8 pt buck on November 23, 2013. The buck was chasing a doe when he stepped out of a pine thicket. I made a 80 yard shot with a 270. The deer ran about 20 yards before expiring.
I am only 20 years old but previous hunting seasons have been no problem for me and I normally get a big buck before the rut is over. This year because of school I missed the whole beginning of the season including the rut. When I finally started I didnt see anything for a week I was getting discouraged. A few weeks before I had shot at a buck and missed. I have never missed and always shoot....

Mark Rouse killed this 180lb 8 pointer on 11-7-2013 on his first hunt in a stand by himself. The big boy came out ten minutes before dark and was trotting away from the stand. He grunted one time, the buck stopped and he dropped it with a shot to the neck at 65 yds. Mark hunts with his dad and they are members of County Line Gun Club.
Joyner Haddock 5 years old of Greenville, NC harvested his first deer ever in Edgecombe County on December 8, 2013 while hunting with his father. The buck was a 7 pointer weighing in at 150lb and was killed with a rifle from a ground blind @ 35 yards. Great memories were made and his smile assures many future outings in nature with Dad!
