Fished the third tournament this past Saturday in the Cape Lookout Shootout King Mackerel Series. We got lucky on the east side and won the tournament with a 48.28. She skied the bait so we knew it was a good fish, but didn't know how big until in the boat. Our first win since 1998 so it was a great feeling!

Today we went back SW of Frying Pan Tower and the bottomfish and Grouper bite was nothing short of fantastic. We had with us today Todd Wilcox from Unicoy, TN., Chris Whaley from Cedar Bluff, VA., Danny Rasnake from Rosedale, VA., and Keith Jackson from Grundy, VA

I am back to the same place I was at yesterday afternoon, I don't know how to explain just how good....  Read More

Finally, my schedule and the calm seas met each other on the same day and made it possible to head offshore fishing. Gary and I met up with Troy Ham, Randall Knapp, Greg Bacento from Fayetteville, NC. Bryan Dedeaux from Laurel, MD. and Kerwin Steele from Garner, NC. It was beautiful morning with calm winds and a flat ocean. We made our way South around forty miles where the water had warmed up....  Read More

Planned to head offshore to chase a wahoo last Saturday Aug. 9th. Unfortunately the weather had different plans. Ran as far as the knuckle then said enough. What was supposed to be 5-10 knots was a steady 15 with gusts to 20 SE. Ended up heading back and catching some Pogies to live bait fish. Nothing at the dead tree hole so went to AR315 and dropped some cut pogies on the bottom. Nothing....  Read More

What a difference a day can make, and this is especially true on the ocean. This AM we left South Harbour Marina on a full day bottom fishing trip with Jason & Angela White from Vass, NC., and Larry, Holden, & Heather Hall from Cameron, NC. We made our way back to where we had caught the fish on our last stop just the day before in a sea that had been so rough....  Read More

4-10-14 PM Trip
We left the Marina with John H and his son John D Sweet from Cary, NC. Now, on the AM trip before we left to come back the bite had just shut down. But, knowing the fish were there earlier that morning and seeing that by the time I got back to the area the tide would have made a change, I headed back to the same area.
To say that the fish were biting would be a discredit to....  Read More

How many fisherman in our region would like to have a better idea of what's going on the piers on the charter services and anything else involving fishing without having to physically go and spend time and money to get that info up to the min. I am asking to find out how important that is before I launch my company. Your opinion is very important to me. Please leave an answer.

We had a full day offshore trip scheduled for today; however, Mother Nature had other plans for the crew of the Yeah Right II and we were forced by the NE winds to turn this into a nearshore trip in search of Grey Trout and the exceptionally large Red Drum that inhabit our waters this time of year! Joining us was James Leininger or Merritt, NC alongside Charley Finn of Chapel....  Read More

Even though the NE winds were blowing cold today we went fishing with Doug Secrest from Palmyra, VA., and his Dad, Bill Secrest from Greensboro,NC. We started off on the East side where we had been doing really good on the fish a few weeks ago. It didn't look the same as it had been, and the bite reflected this as well.

I made a move to another area, marked a lot of....  Read More

I couldn't believe it...... After a week of windy conditions I woke up Saturday morning with a NE wind of 4 knots and a 5 foot SE wave of 7 seconds. I knew our 34' Sportfisherman can eat these conditions for breakfast and never get indigestion!!!

So, we met up with David Bailey, Jesse Williamson, and Bo Ramsey from Fayetteville, NC. and after....  Read More

We met Capt. Darnell Greenway and Henry Greenway from Baltimore, MD., along with James Anderson and Chappie Elliott from Windsor Mill, MD. and headed offshore again after more bottomfish. The seas were a little off beat from the forcast, but, the 34' Chris Craft's twin diesels made the trip a very comfortable ride at 19 knots.

When we reached the fishing grounds we were greeted with....  Read More

Today we were greeted with a ocean as calm as you will ever see. You had to be there to even believe that anything as wild and majestic can be as gentle as a new born lamb at times. Don't just take my word for it, as these local fisherman from Leland and another from NY. They were Bill Standwill, Anthony Errichette, Drew Montamo from Leland, NC., and Alex Naseef from....  Read More

Hello. I recently relocated from Cali...thank God. Been fishing fresh and salt for 30+ years. Know exactly what gear and tackle I need for fish there...but here, I,m at a loss. Do you throw surface iron here? What are some good landings for day to 3 day trips? Any major differences in tackle, terminal gear, etc?
Thanks. I look forward to fishing here. The ecosystem looks super healthy and the....  Read More

On 9/11 I enjoyed a great day of offshore fishing out of Pirates Cove Marina in Manteo aboard the Fistful. We caught and released three White Marlin and kept three Dolphin. Lost a Blue Marlin, a White Marlin, and a Wahoo. Marlin fishing is the best it has been in a long time. I believe a boat out of Virginia Beach named the Waverunner III had 49 White Marlin releases on this same day !!

Had a great day offshore. We had Matt Clarke from Engelhard NC with us yesterday for his first offshore trip. We set out at 'the point' within 15 min young Matt had landed his first white marlin. We ended up with mixed bag of black fin, yellow fin, and dolphin. We also had a blue marlin throw the hook on us. Congrats to Matt for his first Marlin.
