Cross man; very good advice. One thing I will add... the 3.5 x 10 x 44 is much better than the 3 x 9 model on the conquest. One poster said use only 50mm obj. Remember this will require higher rings in most cases and a higher cheek position.I would take a better quality 40-44mm than a lesser optical quality in a 50mm.any time. Like my vx3 50mm.though.Cover your lenses when not in use,and get a....  Read More

Okay, have any of you seen the camo duipping kits for gun?
Some really nice patterns too> I love the God's country's like Real tree and Mossy Oak that have been super charged>

Anyways, every pictur I see of a pitol or rifle shows just the stock or grips camoed - so you can tell the action and barrels were disassembled before dipping.

However, when looking at shotguns that....  Read More

Well I feel like I learned quite a bit in this process. Like when the bluing kit says 'don't short cut the preparation process or you'll regret it later' is NOT an exaggeration. LOL
When I first tried this it did not turn out very well. So I started over, and spent extra time sanding every little nook & cranny and then tried bluing it again.
The pics show how it turned out and how....  Read More

Just wanted to see if any of you have ever tried to re-blue a gun.
My father-in-law left a 12ga Ithaca DeerSlayer outside, leaning against a barn post for a few weeks (he forgot about it). Needless to say it was in real rough shape so I decided to see if I could refinish it. I watched some youtube videos and bought a Birchwood Casey reblueing kit. I disassembled the gun, stripped the remaining....  Read More

Just wanna bring it to your attention that the Report/Forums is not updating. When you click on the 'Most Recent' tab, the latest report is from several days ago.
At first I thought it was my PC but I have looked at it from 3 different PC's now and it is the same.

Anybody own one?

What do you think about it?

Would you recommend it?

I am planning on buying my 12 year old a pump shotgun. Now, before you start thinking about some tiny child....My son is 12 years old and he weighs around 150 pounds...and is 5'9 3/4' tall.

For a while, I had been mulling over buying a Mosberg Maverick 88 because it was pretty cheap.

Know what I mean? For a....  Read More

  • Look at the shine on the stock! I might as well hang a disco ball from it! :)
Bought the Mossy Oak 3M vinyl gun camo kit online from .

Total price of kit, including tax and shipping was $26 and some change. Ordered it last Friday and it arrived today.

Took me about an hour to apply after cleaning the gun.

It's not factory camo perfect, nor does it look as good as it would look if I sent it to a pro to have it wet dipped.

But considering this is....  Read More

So most all of the aftermarket turkey chokes state that they are not made for steek chokes. It'll ruin them fast.

But Most of those chokes also extend at least 2' pst the end of the barrel.

What about factory chokes? My Mossberg came with three chioles, imp cyl, mod and full. Full choke has a really nice tight pattern too.

Anyways, they fit flush inside the barrel. Not any part of them....  Read More

Okay, I admit that I'm feeling just a little extra proud of myself even though it wasn't a matter or rocket science or any other display of amazing human feat.

My Mossberg 500 that I just bought 2 weeks ago needed a sling. Not a problem right?

WRONG! My Mossberg has a big difference between the magazine end than the older ones> Instead of a cap that goes on the end of the magazine, it....  Read More

I occasionally glance ythrough online sales sites and classified like Armslist and craigslist , among others.

Every now and then, I see a Charles Daly shotgun for sale ortrade. Never heard of them before this year.

Thinking about maybe getting a 20 gauge pump for my son and saw a good nprice on a Charles Daly 20 ga pump.

So, are these guns reliable?
Reputable? Or total junk?

Just bought a Mossberg 500 on Friday .

Local gun shop was having a huge sale.

Was originally planning on buying a Rem 870 , but being the idiot I was, I waited til around 4:00pm to they sold out of every Remington 870 and 877 they had except a few tacticals.

So anyways, I bought one of the VERY FEW remaining Mossberg 500's. Pretty nice gun too.

The only thing I do not like....  Read More

I've heard a few of you giving advice on Euro's and read GT's 'how to' post and I've got a question.
If the steam from boiling will make the antlers lose some of their color can you tape off the antlers to prevent any of that?
I was thinking that maybe if I was to tape off the antlers from the base up that might prevent some of that. ???
