Hey all…the weather is FINALLY starting to warm up, but the fishing on Lake Norman is still great in some areas and should be turning on all over the lake.
Anglers are reporting lots of striper catches from the banks at the Marshall hot hole area using bloodworms. Boaters are catching larger fish in the warm water trolling shad or shad type plugs. Most any other species Norman offers can be caught in the warmer water.
Bass anglers are also catching some nice fish. The BFL tournament out of Blythe Landing was won with 16 plus pounds and the Fishers of Men tournament out of Beatties Ford access was won with a little over 10 pounds. The bass are hitting any number of offerings, including crankbaits and jigs. Koppers LiveTarget baits were responsible for a mixed bag of spots, largemouth, stripers and white perch in the Hwy 150 area of the lake. Jigs-X jigs have been successful in many of the same areas, fished slowly on the points and around cover.
Water temps are ranging from 46 degrees to 55, depending on your proximity to the hot holes.
With the warming trend expected to continue, the fishing should keep getting stronger on Norman.
