Fishing Freshwater

12 pound 5 ounce bass caught in private pond
This past Sunday (March 7, 2010) my husband and I decided to go fishing at a private pond. We had been out there for about 30-45 minutes and we had nothing, not even a nibble. Well it was starting to get dark so I had cast out my last line. I was reeling it in slowly and I felt a little nibble at first. I kept reeling it in even slower to see if I could get a bite, and then I felt a tug! I started to reel the fish in and she was putting up quite a fight, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to pull the fish all the way in, so I had to hand the pole over to my husband to reel it in some more. Once he got her close to the shore, we saw her belly, and the we realized why she was so hard to pull in. My husband had to jump into the pond in order to get the fish out of the water! Once we got back to the house we weighed her and she was 12 pounds 5 ounces, 27 inches long, and a girth of 19 inches. Needless to say we are getting her mounted! It was the perfect ending to my day!

Welcome aboard, Emalee. Man, that's a fine fish. My biggest bass is about 8 1/4 pounds, so I'm jealous.
