this pictuer looks like it was scaned in on a computer from somewhere else. As for monsterquest i have wached all of them and have seen the one on big cats also on the beast of bladenboro, bigfoot, giant fling monsters, monsters on the water and bigfoot of course guess what they have not proved any thing in any show they have had out. I have taken more than 100,000 trail cam pictuers in robeson bladen columbus counties and have never seen a pictuer of one yet. we use 9 to 10 camras at a time at differant locations.I spend lots of time in the woods and have never seen one eather I don't belive there are any around and i know 3 peaple that work with usda and none of them have seen one and countless ncwl officers have said no also.
I'm actually glad to see the post and discussion. Three years ago I was on my way back home from dropping-off my daughter at school, entered the bottom of a sweeping curve and saw a very large black cat looking very much like the picture posted. I saw the cat on Sanders Rd. in Johnston County and he was actually crossing into the patch of woods I deer hunted in. I told my sister and brother-in-law about what I saw (they live on the property with a small child) and they thought I was crazy or it wasn't what I thought I saw. I used to enter the woods in pitch dark to go to my stand but after that I never did it again. When I saw the cat cross he was in almost a full-out run and when it crossed I don't know that its feet actually touched the pavement.
They have been seen at cliffside steam plant in Rutherford county. I was told the auto insurance companys are introducing them to cut down on deer populations.
Can't shoot em & most of us know why. Duh!!!!!! Think deer management & auto insurance. Nothing in this world is impossible unless you can prove it so my friends.
Buddy of mine used to trap in the 70's in Caswell swears he saw a cougar one day while checking his traps. Thought it was an oddly colored bobcat till he saw it in full view. Know that's been a while. But once again, nothing is impossible. Especially this day & time! Another buddy of mine hunts in a couple areas in the mountains said he saw a big cat while deer hunting a couple years ago. He talked to the local wildlife authority about it and said they brushed him off like he was crazy. He told them the next time he saw it he was gonna shoot it & show it to them. They told him him that they wouldn't do that if they were him.
Don't know if any of you have seen the television show 'Monster Quest' but they had an episode on about a year ago where they were researching big cat sightings in the south. They talked to some people east of Raleigh who were losing livestock to a predator they said was a big cat. They also talked to some people who had seen some instances of half eaten deer hanging from tree limbs. Don't think that's a cougar or panther but don't leopards do that. I know there used to be another North American big cat other than the cougar, maybe a leopard native to south Texas. Haven't seen any myself, but not gonna say it ain't so. Just my 2 cents.
If anyone has ever hunted or trapped Bobcat, you know they can be LOUD and very angry. Their calls are very shrill and menacing. You can go here to hear their sounds: http://www.soundboard.com/sb/Bobcat_sounds_audio.aspx Play sound 2 to hear a shrill cry. At night (especially when there is a low atmosphere), sounds are amplified and sound very close and very loud. Anyone living near an impact area for a military base can attest to that! I am not being a jerk, I am just not able to see any evidence, let alone proof, that there is a big black panther running around. Like I said before, why is there no physical evidence other than videos and pics similar to Big Foot sightings? I think it would be cool to have a big cat around here. I would definitely be the first in line to shoot film of it. I would like to at least meet a biologist or other professional (game enforcement, USDA, etc) that can say there is a possibility. All the sightings and other encounters with this Carolina Panther can be explained. On one final note, I decided to figure out what kinds of cats can be black AND live here in NC. Ruling out Leopards, Tigers, Jaguars leaves Cougars. To back up the theory that it is a Cougar, most folks who have sightings, when shown photos), say the cat matches the body type of the cougar. Here is where things get interesting. Assuming the cat is a Cougar (because black Tigers still have stripes), the chances of a Cougar being born black, while possible, are incredibly small. So, for the sake of argument, lets say for every 1 black cougar there are 1,000 regular ones. How come there have been no sightings of regular Cougars? If we are seeing exotic pets that were released, how can we explain why the reports are so wide spread? Surely there aren't hundreds of pets roaming around! Even if two black cougars (or whatever cat) that were released into the wild bred, the offspring would still likely be colored! One final note about Black Cougars. Even they aren't black. Their stomachs are white.

Big cats in Rutherford County? (Tue Jun 8, 2010 at 10:53 am)
This pic looks like a download from a video.
I was on Young's Mtn in Rutherford County around 11PM one evening two weeks ago and heard a big cat scream twice nearby. It wasn't quite a roar but it was darn close. Scared my dogs and wife back into the cabin. Never seen any kitties but bobcats up there. Anyone know if there are cougar reports in Rutherford?
I dont know about that pic, but about 10 years ago my father and I seen one run across a field while we were deer hunting. I asked the warden about shooting it if I seen it again, but he told me it wes illegial. He said take a pic, but then no one will beleive it is real!!
It is Big Foot's Kitty (Sat Jun 5, 2010 at 9:20 am)
I have heard a lot of folks talk about this Carolina Cougar but have yet to find a biologist who will say there is one. Every picture that has been looked at has been debunked. I think it would be cool if there was one, but there isn't. If there are, why hasn't one been shot or trapped? During trapping season alone there should be at least one. If a trapper caught one, you can be sure there would be pics and media coverage. Just my opinion.
I can't speak for this picture, but I was bear hunting in Hyde County about 20 years ago and had one walk across the road about 20 feet from me. It was good daylight and there was no mistaking what it was.
you know the funny thing about this is,my son was in the backyard last week and came running the house yelling,'there's a cougar in the yard.'.my son loves the outdoors and he knows what he was looking at.he is only 10,but he is grown for his age.i live near the hoke/scotland/roberson county border.would also like to know if anybody has seen or heard of them being around here?
