North American Whitetail...What the H*@L???
Was wondering if anyone took NAW Mag???This month there's a article on page 96 titled 'Tarnished Dreams' about two young hunters who take trophy Whitetails (one is a 178' monster 10)out of the same tree in less than a hour with thier MATHEWS Bows and caught it all on film...as a matter of fact the footage is what saved them from hunting illegal on the neighbors property and saved the day for them when the footage was showed to the local conservation officer...It's a very informative article and I was impressed UNTIL...I read the conclusion on page 102 and seen the young hunters with thier Trophy Deer on the ground but WHAT HAPPENED TO THOSE MATHEWS bows???The Bows laying on the deer ARE NOT Mathews with Both being Split limbs???The 1 Bow does favor a Mathews but Black plastic limb pockets and Split limbs???Dont think so...I shoot a Bowtech now but who dont know what a Mathews looks like when 10 mins of a 30 min. show and within the first 5 pages of any Hunting Mag. 1 is shoved in

Delayed Hunting and Trapping Rule Changes Take Effect Aug. 1, 2010

2010-11 Fishing, Hunting and Trapping Regulations also Effective Aug. 1

RALEIGH, N.C. (July 12, 2010) – The proposed hunting and trapping rule changes approved by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission in March 2009 but delayed for legislative review will go into effect on Aug. 1, 2010.

Along with these delayed rules, hunting, trapping and fishing rules proposed for the 2010-11 seasons, approved by the Commission in March 2010, go into effect on Aug. 1.

Fifteen hunting and trapping proposals were referred to the General Assembly by the North Carolina Rules Review Commission in April 2009 in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act. As a result, the rule changes could not take effect until they were reviewed by the legislature, which convened in short session on May 12 of this year. Legislators had 31 days to propose bills disapproving the rules.

Corn/supplemental feed
I know there's lots of opinions on the use of corn/supplemental feed, and don't want to start an argument thread here on it's use.
Would simply like to know if you use corn(shelled or cob), do you put it out in a pile, or spread it over an area? I've done both, and had better success spreading it. When I pile a couple hundred pounds, it molds and the deer don't touch it.

NCBA
The NCBA are about as crazy as it gets! Thank God I didn't join them a couple of years ago when I was thinking about it. I think the whole reason for bow hunting is stealth, i.e. silent hunting. Crossbows are silent. I'm an avid bow hunter and hunt along side my handicapped cousin whom uses a crossbow. I kill as many if not more deer than he does. Try cocking a crossbow in a climber tree stand. I with my Hoyt compound and six arrow quiver, have the advantage. Give me a break NCBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fellas they are about to get the crossbow hunting thrown out because they think crossbows should only be used during gun season.

Antihunting groups defeat crossbow use
It appears the Human Society, PETA, NC Bowhunters Assoc and other antihunting groups have found an ally in the NC legislature. Sen Fletcher Hartsell(R), representing Cabarrus and Iredell counties, has introduced another bill to disapprove a NCWRC proposed change to hunting regulations. His bill, SB1173, will not allow the use of crossbow(without permit) during bow season. Yet another blow to those of us trying to promote hunting to ALL citizens, without exclusion.

Sunday hunting - Watauga county acts
Right now, a regulatory change to allow Sunday bow hunting is a moving target.
The county commissioners voted today to ask the state to allow Watauga County voters to decide the issue for themselves, assuming the General Assembly upholds a regulatory change. The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission voted last year to change the rules and allow Sunday bow hunting, but formal opposition during the hearing procedures kicked the issue to state lawmakers.
It's possible the issue won't go to a floor vote in the short session, meaning the change wouldn't take effect this year, if approved. However, county residents had started a petition drive against the proposal, citing tradition, religious reasons, and safety issues. Comments mailed to the commissioners and delivered at public meetings showed division on the issue, with hunters claiming an unfair restriction on their sport and touting the tourism benefits of Sunday hunting.
The commissioners sidestepped a potential church-state issue by
