Sylva's Heather Broom spent the past two years fishing the Women's Bassmaster Tour, but will have to look elsewhere for tournament success after BASS canceled the circuit.

The Women's Bassmaster Tour was eliminated Monday (Jan. 4)by BASS, which said the circuit just never gained traction.

"Despite BASS' best efforts to grow the WBT, participation levels have been declining significantly since the inception of the tour in 2005," the BASS news release stated.

"This was a very tough decision and one that we didn't take lightly," BASS General Manager and Vice President Tom Ricks said. "We made every effort to grow the WBT — even awarding WBT anglers a berth in the Classic — but ultimately it didn't resonate."

WBT anglers who had registered for 2010 WBT events will be provided a full refund and provided the opportunity to register for BASS events (such the Bassmaster Opens) for which they are eligible.
