Regional victory is worth berth in All-American

Richard Szczerbala of Apex won the Oct. 20-22 Walmart BFL regional on Tenneesse’s Lake Chickamauga out of Chattanooga.

Szczerbala’s haul of 43 pounds of 15 ounces was worth a Ranger boat and Chevy Silverado truck. He also received an entry into the BFL All-American Championship.

Asheville’s Eric Jeter finished ninth with 34-6 and collected $600. Anthony Fofi of Spring Lake took the 22nd spot with 19-12 and earned $350.

Rodney Stevens of Garner finished third among the co-anglers with 24-8, banked $550 and won a berth in the All-American.

Other North Carolina co-anglers finishing in the money were: Jeff Penland of Leicester, 13th, with 13-1 for $225; and Paul Reich of Sanford, 17th with 12-6 for $200.

Digh wins Smith Mountain regional

Rob Digh of Denver won the Oct. 13-15 Walmart BFL Smith Mountain Lake regional with 30 pounds, 12 ounces, winning a Ranger boat, Chevy Silverado truck, and an invitation to the All- American Championship.

Shane Lineberger of Lincolnton and Scott Hamrick of Denver also earned berths in the All- American Championship by finishing in the top six.

Lineberger ranked second with 28-14 and won $1,500, while Hamrick finished fourth with 25-8, winning $1,000.

McDonald in EverStart Top 10

Randleman’s Mike McDonald placed 10th at the Oct. 27-30 EverStart Series Championship at Kentucky Lake. His catch of 46 pounds, 11 ounces, paid $2, 600.

Justin Jones of Apex placed 25th among the co-anglers with 16-00 and received $580.
