Anglers of all skill levels can learn basic to advanced fly fishing skills at the Appalachian Anglers’ fly-fishing clinic April 13 at Boone.

BOONE — The Appalachian Angler will host “Fly for Free,” a free fly-fishing workshop at the Watauga River across from the Angler shop off N.C. 105 and Old Shulls Mill Rd near Boone.

The event is scheduled for April 13. Session times will be 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m.  No pre-registration is required.

The workshop is designed for fishers of all ages and skill levels.  Lessons will include fly-fishing approach, casting demonstration and tips, fly presentation and fly selection.

The Angler is sponsoring this event to increase the community’s awareness about fly fishing and the services provided by the Appalachian Anglers.

The Angler has provided fly-fishing trips at local waters of the WNC high country and eastern Tennessee since 1987. Appalachian Angler also offers bonefishing trips at the Florida Keys and fishing for salmon at Alaskan rivers.

The guides at the Angler follow the strict policy of catch-and-release fishing and advocate the use of barb-less hooks.

For more information about this event, contact Justin Stroyer or guides at the Angler at (828)-963-8383 or send e-mail to info@appalachianangler.com
