Citing the impending formation of a tropical system off the North Carolina coast, the Atlantic Beach King Mackerel Tournament Committee announced Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, that the tournament would be postponed until October 18-20.

A tournament official said all the locations would remain the same and all the registration, special events and awards times would remain the same.  They will be monitoring sunrise and sunset times and may adjust the check out and check in times if it is deemed prudent.

The Final Registration, Captains Meeting, Friday evening events, Awards Ceremony and Dance will take place under the large tent in the parking lot at Atlantic Station Shopping Center.  Final registration will be from 1:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. on Thursday, Oct. 18, with the Captains Meeting at 7:00 P.M.  Registration is $400 and several Tournaments Within a Tournament are available.

Fishing days are Friday and Saturday.  A change made earlier in the year has moved the weigh in location to McCurdy's Restaurant on the Atlantic Beach Causeway.  This is slightly north and across the street from the former location.

The Friday night cookout will be from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.  The Awards Ceremony will begin at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday night, with the dance following immediately afterwards.

Information will be updated on the tournament web site at www.abkmt.com and is available by phone at 252-247-2334.
