Doug Young, a veteran fisherman from Salisbury, won the May 16 Bassmaster Weekend Series event at High Rock Lake.

Tony Woodard of Four Oaks captured the Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League Piedmont Division tournament at Jordan Lake on April 4 with a 5-bass limit weighing 24 pounds; he earned $4,948.

Jamey Caldwell of Carthage won the Walmart BFL Piedmont Division tournament on March 7 at Kerr Lake with a 5-fish limit that weighed 15 pounds, five ounces. He won $5,241.

Lexington’s David Fritts, who recently joined to the Tums Dual Action fishing team, found relief his own way by winning the FLW Tour’s Chevy Open at Lake Guntersville in mid-February.

The Norman Winter Team Bass Trail apparently hasn’t experienced the economic pinch that has adversely affected other trails.

Lexington’s David Wright won the June 21 Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League North Carolina Division tournament with a five-fish tournament limit weighing 23-12 to outdistance his closest competitor by more than 5 pounds.

William Kemp of Scotland Neck won the May 3 Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League North Carolina Division tournament at Kerr Lake with a five-fish catch totaling 14-09 and banked $4,352.

Lexington’s Rick McCrary, holding his two biggest largemouth bass, won the April 12 American Bass Association tournament at Tuckertown Lake with 25.01 pounds.
