2 Days after opening day of Dog season here in Brunswick county,NC. We were headed out to finish up the islands we didn’t get to run opening day. Well it was about 20 mins after daylight and I jumped off the front of the boat headed into the ridge where the deer like to cross before swimming the waterway. Well as they eased away I encountered a couple in the bay in front of me, so I found me a spot and got down in a ready position to chill for a minute. About 10 mins went by and my walkie talkie came alive and my buddy said I turned em out. They went right of the boat and jumped. Well once they got right on me, a big doe ran right by me and I held out and didn’t shoot and out came a nice 9pt and I didn’t hesistate to get a shot and as I pulled up and looked this deer was 40 yards coming right for me. Once he laid eyes on me he quartered away and headed back in the block. I got a good shot and made it happen. He crashed 30 yards and the dogs bayed him. What an incredible hunt I’ll never forget. southeastern 13pt.
